The workshop entitled, “Building Better Jobs,” aimed at moving their recently released document “Code of Best Practices for Women and Information and Communication Technology (ICT)” from words on paper to action and outcomes. From that session and two others, recommendations emerged from the participants that will form the basis of the Directorate’s next steps, including potential proposal funding  from the Commission.

“We need to ensure all the best and brightest minds are engaged in helping to solve our shared global challenges,” said Morrell. “Looking to other nations and regional efforts is critical to finding innovative and effective solutions for workforce development. The Europeans are demonstrating true leadership in collaboration, partnerships, and openness to new ideas.”

Morrell continues, “MDWIT is pleased to be able to listen and learn and explore its own next steps to expand this good work in the U.S. to benefit women and their families and communities here.”

Already the Commission Directorate has funded a Norway-based portal for Europe through the European Centre of Women and ICTs High tech business leaders such as HP, Cisco, Motorola, Google, Panasonic, and Microsoft also attended and provided their support.
