Maryland Women in Technology Changes Name to Reflect Global Reach
(Multinational Development of Women in Technology)“So many of our supporters have commented on
the global reach of MDWIT programs that we've
decided to change our name to something that
reflects the true fabric of our
organization,” said Claudia Morrell, CEO of
the Multinational Development of Women in
Technology. “We need our best and brightest
minds focused on solving global challenges
today, and that includes women. We bring
together innovation through technology with
women’s creative talents to add new ideas and
potential solutions to the global conversation,
but we do this one girl and one woman at a time
through programs and
services.”
Morrell continues,
“Maryland women and men will benefit from the
opportunities MDWIT has and is continuing to
develop around the world.”
The
organization and its leadership is already
recognized around the world as a pioneering
program-rich organization committed to gender
equity and the advancement of women and girls
in the knowledge society. As evidence of its
international efforts, MDWIT will be co-hosting
the Middle East Women in Technology Leadership
Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in
partnership with Dubai Women’s College in
November 2008. The event will bring together
industry thought leaders to help develop and
fund the first Regional Center for Women and
Technology for the Middle East region. During
this three day summit, attendees will create a
strategy that builds on current effective
practices in the region to ensure women are
empowered to provide leadership in technology
innovation and wealth generation, not just
become users.
